Hi Stephen, this is a very interesting idea!
Let me think about this a little longer just to see if I got it right. I'm not in front of my O, so I have to use only the param guide at the moment. I'll sum up what I've got so far:
Info: when Karma T.Sig is used as a P7:6 realtime parameter and its values are set within +0001 and +0048, the resulting T.Sig is 1/4 to 16/16
So, I'd try this:
1) In sequencer mode, select P7:6 Perf Real-Time Parameters
2) on a free row and set: Group "Performance", Parameter "Time Signature", Min 1, Max 48, Value 4, (ABCD is irrelevant), Assign "DynaMIDI7"
3) select P7:7 Dynamic MIDI
4) on row 7 (important, see "DynaMIDI7" !) set the following: leave input module A, Source "CC#83", Bottom 1, Top 48, Action "Continuous", Destination "RT Params Control", the rest of the parameters are irrelevant
This has the following effect:
- it sets CC#83 as source for a Dynamic Midi event and assigns it as Dynamic MIDI control source for the KARMA time signature, starting with a value of 4/4 (see "Value 4" in 2) ) - one would have to change it, if the starting time signature was i.e. 11/16
Then go to the Track Edit page and select the master track. If you now want to change the KARMA (!) time signature in bar 13 from 4/4 to 7/8 open up the page menu commands, select "Create Control Data" and fill out the dialog:
1) From - to measure: 13
2) Start - End Beat Tick: 01.000
3) Control Change: No. 83, Start/End Value 23 (corresponds to a KARMA T.Sig of 7/8)
4) Hit "OK"
5) Now, additionally, record a normal time signature change (for the easiest way take the "Insert Measure" command from the page menu) to 7/8 on the master track in bar 13, to have the sequencer change its t.sig accordingly
If this works, it would be easy to change the KARMA T.Sig. Just put another CC#83 message in the master track and that's it!
Might that be the way you have been thinking of?
PS: This whole stuff is soooooo HUGE and complex! Even if I have my O for a couple of years, there are many things to learn "... for years to come"
