Choreography! 120 BPM - 4/4 Pop/Dance Lead Synth
hand diagram
Inspired by the Justin Timberlake/Brittany Spears energetic, syncopated dance style typical of many "boy bands" of the last twenty years or so, this Performance provides a modern KARMA-fied take on it all with a tight strumming acoustic guitar, a panning synth riff with KARMA filter modulation, and syncopated orchestra hits with some unique sound-effects variations in some of the scenes. The Fill button triggers different snare and tom fill variations in each Master Layer scene, some featuring the use of pitch-bend envelopes – and some relatively thunderous rock toms.

A swelling left hand pad sound is provided in the LH/KARMA input area, and a mono analog synth lead with delay and distortion is provided for soloing in the RH area. Assignable Switches 1 and 2 have been assigned to modulate the voices being played by KARMA for some alternate tonal variations you can switch in at any time.
Left Hand: Layered synth pad
Right Hand: Analog synth lead (mono)
Split Points: * B2/C3
Motif Arps/Special Notes
  • Two Motif arps can be added as additional elements: Pads 9 to 12 trigger a syncopated backbeat chord with a phased clavish sound (no phaser on MOX version), while Pads 13 to 16 trigger a trance riff with a sync wave - both of which have various scale steps based on the last-played chord and can be layered on top of each other.
  • "Bonus scene" included in Scene 9, featuring the use of the Rhythm Multipliers for a half-time feel – select it on the Scene Matrix page or scene grid in the Real-Time Control page.
  • Assignable Switches 1 and 2 have been assigned to modulate the voices being played by KARMA for some tonal variations, but they are not assigned to be stored in the scenes. To do that, you would turn on the "Assignable Switches In Scenes" checkboxes in the Real-Time Control Page.

Scenes (Master) Description
Scene 1 (simplest) - single note bass with bend and sidestick/ride on drums, along with tight strums on guitar, simple synth riff, gunshot orch hit effect using fast melodic repeats; panning pitch-bending snare fill
Scene 2 (simpler) - takes the energy up a notch from the previous scene, adding percussion and moving to the hi-hat, full bass line is introduced, synth riff plays an angular ascending pattern using melodic repeats; panning thunderous toms fill
Scene 3 (breakdown) - more syncopated drums, wide-open bass and more space in the other parts yield a breakdown section, synth riff again uses melodic repeats; triplet snare fill
Scene 4 (simpler) - another syncopated rum groove variation, bending bass riff along with a straighter variations in other parts, harmony on the synth riff, orch hits uses melodic repeats for a choppy effect; thunderous snare and toms fill
Scene 5 (simpler) - a variation of the startup scene, with sidestick/ride on the drums, harmony on the synth riff, and ascending guitar chords courtesy of melodic repeat; snare and toms fill
Scene 6 (startup) - the basic full groove; snare and toms fill
Scene 7 (busier) - kicks it up a notch from the previous scene, adds some pitch-bending on the drums, bending on the bass, synth riff up an octave; panning syncopated pitch-bending snare fill
Scene 8 (busiest) - opens it up in the bass, goes to a fast chattering synth riff and adds buzzing delays and arpeggiated pitch-bend to the drums and percussion; thunderous snare and toms fill
Scene 9 (half-time) - Bonus! Uses the Rhythm Multiplier switches to provide a heavy half-time feel quite unlike the other scenes, fast ride cymbal, bending on the bass; snare and toms fill with slow delays
