Diva's Delight 100 BPM - 4/4 Pop/R&B Lead Synth
hand diagram
This mid-tempo contemporary R&B Performance consists of a fashionable kick & clap/snare drum groove, a simple kick accentuating synth bass pattern using a hollow sounding Triangle/Sine bass patch, and a panning gated synth pattern for a chopped poly-synth stab effect (with a phaser) Two more synth patterns sit on top: Synth 1 plays a melodic arpeggio simulating an echo effect with decreasing velocity, and Synth 2 plays a dynamic comping chord pattern using an analog poly-synth sound with velocity routed to cutoff frequency. The Fill button provides a suitable matching snare and toms fill, with variations in the scenes as usual.

The LH/KARMA area provides a simple analog synth pad. Two different mono synth leads with portamento have been provided in the RH area for soloing, controlled by A.Sw2: a bright mono saw lead (A.Sw2 = off) and a dark mellow R&B lead with a somewhat theremim-like character (A.Sw2 = on). You'll find it has been stored as the dark R&B lead in scenes 1, 2, 4, 7 and 8. A.Sw1 modulates the filter cutoff, resonance and release on the Bass and Synth 1 and increase the Phaser effect on the Gated Synth, giving each scene an alternate variation if desired - although this setting is not stored in the scenes - you could turn on the "Assignable Switch 1 in Scene" button in the Real-Time Control Editor to do so.

Motif Arps/Special Notes
  • Two Motif arps can be added as additional elements: Pads 9 to 12 trigger a trance/dance riff and Pads 13 to 16 trigger a dance riff with phaser (no phaser on MOX version) - both of which have ascending scale steps based on the last-played chord and shut each other off, courtesy of the Chord Trigger exclusives - try alternating between them, for example, Pad 9 and Pad 13.
  • When not in Remote Mode (i.e. in Song Mode), Tone 1 Knob 8 adds an interesting beat-synchronized delay effect to the Drums, Fill, Synth 2 and RH synth lead.

Scenes (Master) Description
Scene 1 (simplest) - minimal activity, shaker, synth 1 plays a melody with pitch-bend, synth 2 provides an active counterpart, high-pitched syncopated fill
Scene 2 (simpler) - kick every 4 beats with tambourine, steady rhythm on the gated synth, single notes on synth 2, high-pitched fill with delays
Scene 3 (simpler) - half-time arpeggiated pitch-bending drums, long chord with bend on synth 1, SFX noises from the perc and a syncopated fill
Scene 4 (simpler) - the beat begins, with stick/snare and rides, echoing melody on synth 1, L/R accents from gated synth and synth 2, bending tom fill
Scene 5 (startup) - the basic full groove, straight fill with randomized snares and toms
Scene 6 (busier) - drums add upbeat accents and hi-hats, bass stays on one note, steady gated synth with L/R accents from synth2, panning fill
Scene 7 (busier) - drums move to the stick/snare and rides, a conga pattern is introduced, bass opens up space, ascending melody on synth 2, rising fill
Scene 8 (busiest) - drums switch to a "noise" snare sound, bending single bass notes, bending melody, busy arpeggiated part on synth 2, rising tom fill
