Glam-Pop Shuffle 118 BPM - 4/4 70's Pop Lead Synth
hand diagram
This synth-dominated contemporary Pop Performance has a triplets shuffle groove, consisting of a 70's British Glam-Rock/Pop shuffle drum groove with claps, a simple analog synth bass pattern with portamento doing octave jumps, a resonant analog synth arpeggio with slow filter modulation and phaser effects (Synth 1), a second synth arpeggio glissando pattern driving a strings patch which appears periodically (Synth 2), and a rhythmic gated pattern driving an analog string-synth patch. The Fill button triggers a snare and toms fill which, unlike most Performances, does not stop the Module 1 Drums but plays on top of them.

A warm analog synth pad is provided in the LH/KARMA area, while two different mono synth leads are available for the RH lead area, courtesy of A.Sw2: a super-bright saw lead with portamento, and a mini moog lead with a rising filter effect. A.Sw1 transposes them both up an octave to allow 61-note keyboards to reach the upper ranges. You'll find that the mini moog lead is called up by Scenes 1 to 3, while the rest of the scenes call up the bright saw lead.
Left Hand: Warm analog synth pad
Right Hand: Bright saw lead (A.Sw2 = off)

Motif Arps/Special Notes
  • Two Motif arps can be added as additional elements: Pads 9 to 12 trigger a syncopated vocoder pattern, while Pads 13 to 16 trigger a high-energy trance riff - both of which have ascending scale steps based on the last-played chord and can be layered on top of each other - and have also been set to be turned off by the end of a fill in this Performance.
  • A.Sw1 (octave up) is not stored in the scenes, so it can be freely toggled at any time, while A.Sw2 (lead sound) is stored in the scenes, courtesy of the "Assignable Switch in Scenes" checkbox under A.Sw2 in the Real-Time Controls page.

Scenes (Master) Description
Scene 1 (simplest) - minimal activity with a poly-rhythmic feel, with simple shakers, single root bass notes far apart, alternating L/R gated synth, low-velocity synth 1 riff creating spaces into which synth 2 places a single bending note; panning sparse high-pitched snare and toms fill
Scene 2 (simpler) - adds congas and other percussion, single note bass doubles from scene 1, synth 2 takes the focus with a cyclic up/down arpeggio, synth 1 plays syncopated notes while the gated synth opens up some space; panning high-pitched snare and toms fill
Scene 3 (simpler) - adds a simple kick on the downbeat, bass doubles up on the root notes again, synth 1 takes over the focus with an angular riff, synth 2 starts coming in only at the end of each bar, which is used in most other scenes from here on; panning snare and toms fill with slow repeats
Scene 4 (simpler) - hi-hats and claps are added, bass starts adding octaves, synth 1 does a variation of the startup scene with syncopations, synth 2 does long notes with bends at the end of the pattern, gated synth alternates chops with open space; straight snare and toms fill
Scene 5 (startup) - the basic full groove; straight snare and toms fill
Scene 6 (busier) - drums add some repeated notes for more activity, bass drops an octave and adds bending, synth 1 starts a tightly-constrained 3 note pattern, synth 2 again at the end of the phrase with up/down arpeggios, gated synth to an open voicing; panning snare and toms fill
Scene 7 (busier) - drums to open hi-hats, bass does an octaves variation, synth 1 does a cascading melodic repeats based riff, gated synth up an octave, synth 2 uses random scalic notes; fast triplets based snare and toms fill
Scene 8 (busiest) - heavy half-time variation with repeating drum notes, long bending bass notes, fast synth 1 arpeggiations, long bending gated synth stabs, synth 2 uses scalic mode for its up/down phrases; snare and toms fill with fast buzzy repeats
