Home of the Rave 146 BPM - 4/4 Euro-Techno Fast Synth
hand diagram
This fast tempo "Euro-Techno" style Performance bounces along at 146 bpm, consisting of a typical Techno kick & open hi-hat drum groove (use Master Layer Slider 5 to introduce a snare with the slider in the fully down position), a simple pulsing offbeat techno style synth-bass, a staccato synth riff using an analog pizzicato simulation and two further synth phrases which appear periodically panned left and right. The Fill button has been configured to produce the typical volume-crescendoing machine-gun snare and tom fills, along with different variations in each scene.

A bright resonant synth stack is provided in the LH area, while two different polyphonic synth voices are provided in the RH area for soloing or comping, controlled by A.Sw2: a polyphonic rave lead suitable for soloing and stabs, and a vocal spectrum pad sound, especially useful in some of the simpler scenes with more space - you'll find it has been stored as the vocal pad in Scenes 1 to 4. A.Sw1 (which is not stored in the scenes) transposes both lead sounds up an octave. Listen out for Scene 8 which halves the time of the drum groove, adds arpeggiated pitch-bending, and takes this particular style in a totally different direction!
Left Hand: Bright synth stack
Right Hand: Bright rave lead (poly) (A.Sw2 = off)
Spectrum vocal pad (poly) (A.Sw2 = on)
A.Sw1 = octave up

Motif Arps/Special Notes
  • Pads 9 to 12 add an additional Motif arp to the mix: a wild portamento dance riff, in ascending scale steps based on the last played chord, while Pads 13 to 16 provide four different "Laser" sound effects - these are one-shot effects and you may need to hold them to get the full effect.
  • The fills have been set to end after 2 bars, but try holding down the fill button for longer and really build up the energy!
  • Use Slider 5 "Velocity Env. Level" in the Fill's Control Layer (Module 6) to control the volume of the start of the fill's crescendo effect.
  • When not in Remote Mode (i.e. in Song Mode), Tone 1 Knob 8 adds an interesting beat-synchronized delay effect to the Drums, all three Synths and the RH lead sounds.

Scenes (Master) Description
Scene 1 (simplest) - all parts at minimal activity suitable for a breakdown or intro, simple shakers and bass octaves, sparse notes on synth 1 and synth 2, synth 3 is slightly busier; with a pitch-bending panning repeated-snare fill
Scene 2 (simpler) - activity picks up a bit with the introduction of the backbeat bass, hi-pitched kick, tambourine and shakers, synth 1 a little busier, synth 3 cascading with melodic repeats; repeating panning toms fill bending the opposite way
Scene 3 (simpler) - energy kicks up a notch with a low-pitched four-on-the-floor kick and backbeat tambourine, bass doubles up, and more activity in the synth parts, synth 3 starts playing chords; fast panning bending tom fill
Scene 4 (simpler) - pitch of the drums reverts to normal and a variation is introduced with hih-hats, while all melodic parts busy up and start to approach the next scene; pitch-bending machine gun snare fill
Scene 5 (startup) - the basic full groove, with typical volume crescendo machine gun snare fill
Scene 6 (busier) - adds a snare to the drums and additional percussion, and picks up the activity on all 4 melodic parts, panning bending tom fill
Scene 7 (busier) - drums move to stick and backbeat ride, congas and bongos, activity picks up, but also "opens up" a bit with a stabby synth 1, synth 2 riff alternating with high chords on synth 3; pitch bending panning busier snare fill
Scene 8 (busiest/alternate) - moves in a completely different yet cool direction using a half-time feel and arpeggiated bending on the drums and percussion, long bending notes on the bass, syncopated synth 1 riff, synth 2 riff alternating with high chords on synth 3; panning machine gun snare doubled with toms for a truly blistering fill
