HouseMeister 125 BPM - 4/4 Euro-House Lead Synth
hand diagram
This up-tempo "Euro-House" Performance features a bouncy house piano phrase, a typical house/techno drum groove using analog drum samples, a busy synth-bass pattern, and two independent synth patterns (one a bubbly staccato arpeggio and the other a periodic resonant synth riff). Module 6 provides different drum fills, including the typical "crescendoing and/or bending snare rolls" that are popular in this style.

The LH/KARMA area provides a resonant sweeping layered pad sound - the resonance can be accentuated with the ribbon. A "rave lead" with heavy phaser and delay is provided for soloing, but it can be changed to a completely different "sync wave" lead with flanger* using A.Sw2. A.Sw1 modulates filter cutoff, resonance and effects parameters on Synth 1 and Synth 2, accentuating the dual wah-wahs being used on Synth 1, for an alternate tonal variation. In this Performance, the A.Switches are not set to be stored in the scenes, so they can be freely toggled on and off at any time without scene changes affecting them. (*no flanger in MOX version due to only 3 IFX)
Left Hand: Attack synth/hi-pass sweep pad layer
Right Hand: Phaser rave lead (mono) (A.Sw2 = off)
Flanger sync lead (mono) (A.Sw2 = on)
Split Points: * B2/C3
Motif Arps/Special Notes
  • Two Motif arps can be added as additional elements: Pads 9 to 12 trigger a driving sync wave octaves riffriff, while Pads 13 to 16 trigger a house trumpet riff - both of which have ascending scale steps based on the last-played chord and shut each other off, courtesy of the Chord Trigger exclusives - try alternating between them, for example, Pad 9 and Pad 13. In this Performance, the end of the fill has also been set to turn off any running Motif arps.
  • If you'd like a more "neutral" chord pattern in the piano riff, pull down Slider 8 "Note Pattern [3]" in the Master Control Layer.

Scenes (Master) Description
Scene 1 (simplest) - low level of activity, suitable for a breakdown or an intro, just an open hi-hat pattern, anchor bass notes, simple pulsing parts on the synths with a cyclic piano riff taking center stage; pitch-bending panning tom fill
Scene 2 (simpler) - kick every 4 beats, percussion, long bending bass note every 8 beats, piano moves to a chording pattern, activity increases, synth 2 provides an alternating counterpoint riff; diving machine gun snare fill with 32nds
Scene 3 (simpler) - energy goes up, kick moves to every beat, analog snare, bongo groove, piano moves to typical house pattern, bass bends up on the offbeat, synth 2 counterpoint becomes more like the startup scene, but mono; diving machine gun snare fill
Scene 4 (simpler) - moving up to the full groove on the drums with percussion, more energy in the other parts, but with the bass staying on a single note unlike the next scene, synth 2 provides a single note counterpoint phrase down an octave; cresconding machine gun snare fill
Scene 5 (startup) - the basic full groove; crescendoing machine gun snare fill
Scene 6 (busier) - quite a jump in activity from the previous scene and a change in direction, drums move to rides and sidestick and add clave and bongos, piano does quick repeats, synths bounce around; diving crescendoing machine gun fill
Scene 7 (busiest) - jacks up the energy another notch (or five!) with some arpeggiated bend on the drums that turns an electronic cowbell pattern into something quite interesting, an open angular single note piano riff, and more activity in all parts; toms fill with delays and descending pitch-bend
Scene 8 (breakdown) - more arpeggiated drum pitch-bending, adds buzzing delay on the percussion and a bending long bass note on the downbeat, while the other parts open up slightly for a very wild breakdown; panning toms fill with delay and machine gun at the end
