Look to the Stars 128 BPM - 4/4 Euro-Techno/Trance Fast Synth
hand diagram
This up-tempo Euro Techno/Trance Performance features a typical Euro Techno/House drum groove with open hi-hats and congas, a busy synth bass pattern with filter modulation, a stacatto trance style analog synth pattern which pans left and right (Synth 1), a vintage analog synth riff with portamento (Synth 2) and a simple panning gated analog strings pattern. The Fill button triggers a drum fill on a completely different sounding kit, with a number of interesting variations in the scenes.

The LH/KARMA area provides a sweeping resonant synth pad, while a fat polyphonic trance synth lead is provided for soloing in the RH area, which can be switched to an ethereal vocal pad using A.Sw2 - you'll find it is stored as the voice pad in Scenes 1 & 2 (the simpler, quieter scenes).
Left Hand: Sweeping synth pad
Right Hand: Trance synth lead (poly) (A.Sw2 = off)
Ethereal vocal pad (poly) (A.Sw2 = on)

Motif Arps/Special Notes
  • Pads 9 to 12 provide a Motif arp gated hi-pass pattern to add to the mix, while Pads 13 to 16 provide a fat Orchestra Hit in octaves - both of them in four ascending scale steps based on the last-played chord.
  • You can store which lead sound you want to use in each scene because the "Assignable Switches In Scenes" checkbox is on under A.Sw2 in the Real-Time Controls Editor - it is stored as the vocal pad in Scenes 1 and 2.
  • MOX only: Due to the MOX having only 64 notes of polyphony (the MOXF, XS, and XF have 128 notes), you may notice polyphony issues with this Performance when playing the Orch Hits on Chord Triggers 13-16. Hold them down to avoid chopping the release.

Scenes (Master) Description
Scene 1 (simplest) - simple percussion, minimal activity from the bass, synth 1 and the gated synth, focus on the synth 2 riff; very sparse panning high-pitched fill
Scene 2 (simpler) - additional percussion, single bass note, backbeat gated synth hit, focus shifts to an intricate pattern on synth 1; sparse panning high-pitched toms fill
Scene 3 (simpler) - kick and hi-hats added, doubled bass note, simple parts on synth 1 and synth while the focus shifts to a centered gated synth pattern with alternating octaves; syncopated panning snare and toms fill
Scene 4 (simpler) - snare and claps added in a half-time feel, dotted-eight bass, percolating synth 1 part, synth 1 plays a variation of the startup scene, gated synth on backbeats with the snare; hlaf-time snare/kick/hi-hat fill with delays
Scene 5 (startup) - the basic full groove; straight snare/kick/hi-hat fill
Scene 6 (busier) - alternate kick and snare with syncopated backbeat, more insistence from all parts as they play busier variations of the startup scene; panning pitch-bending snare/kick/hi-hat fill
Scene 7 (busiest) - drums move to the ride and drop every other snare, the bass opens space with a bouncing octaves pattern, downward repetitive synth 2 motif, gated synth up an octave; panning pitch-bending snare and toms fill
Scene 8 (half-time/breakdown) - heavy half-time variation courtesy of the Rhythm Multipliers, with arpeggiated pitch-bending on the drums and lots of space on the other parts; panning pitch-bending 16th note snare fill with delays
