This mid-tempo atmospheric Trance/Chill-Out Performance features KARMA Wavesequencing to good effect, consisting of a contemporary Chill-Out drum groove routed through a small amount of delay effect, a simple kick accentuating synth bass pattern, a busy staccato synth pattern using a muted sawtooth synth timbre (Synth 1), a chord-stab synth pattern creating a gated synth effect (Synth 2) and the previously mentioned KARMA Wave-sequence pattern, which can produce a wide range of interesting wavesequences especially using the Master Layer WaveSeq Pattern Slider 8. The Fill button provides a suitable matching drum fill, as usual with many variations in the scenes.

A mellotron-like flute timbre is provided in the right hand span of the keyboard for soloing, but it can be changed with A.Sw1 to a sweeping resonant mono synth lead, for a completely different feel. The Performance is set to store this setting in the scenes, so even-numbered scenes 2,4,6 and 8 have the flute, while the others call up the mono synth - and listen out for Scene 8 with its buzzy resonant drum groove and pitch-bending synths.

Motif Arps/Special Notes
  • Two Motif arps can be added as additional elements: Pads 9 to 12 trigger a trancey riff and Pads 13 to 16 trigger a percolating plucked resonant synth riff - both of which have ascending scale steps based on the last-played chord and shut each other off, courtesy of the Chord Trigger exclusives - try alternating between them, for example, Pad 9 and Pad 13.
  • If you'd prefer that the scenes did not change the lead sound, turn off the "Assignable Switches In Scenes" checkbox under A.Switch 1 in the RTC page.

Scenes (Master) Description
Scene 1 (simplest) - analog congas, with synth 2 taking center stage with an arpeggiated riff; very simple backup from the other parts including some tasty wave-sequence notes; sparse pitch-bending fill
Scene 2 (simpler) - simple hi-hat, bending bass, synth 1 breaks out into a full pattern, more tasty wave-sequencing highlighting some vocal samples; panning pitch-bending tom fill ending in belltree
Scene 3 (simpler) - kick and shakers added, focus moves to the wave-sequencing pattern with a nice clang in the 4th bar, simple octave on synth 1, L/R stabs from synth 2; panning syncopated pitch-bending fill
Scene 4 (startup) - the basic full groove; straight snare/tom fill
Scene 5 (busier) - the bass and drums funk-up from the previous scene, triangle and clave perc, the wave-sequencing pattern changes to a single note with more of them; panning snare and toms fill
Scene 6 (busier) - the bass changes to driving 3-16ths phrase, the drums change to a different snare and perc pattern, wave-seq goes to chords again but busier; panning bending snare and toms fill
