Pizzi-Trip 75 BPM - 4/4 Hip-Hop Lead Synth

This atmospheric slow tempo "Trip-Hop" Performance offers a solid Hip-Hop groove, featuring a cool pizzicato-cello arpeggio pattern, an ethereal, floating synth-pad sound layered with vibes driven by a KARMA GE with random notes, a simple kick-accentuating bass pattern and a drum groove generated by two GE's to form a solid "hybrid" groove – when controlled independently, the two drum patterns can yield plenty of interesting variations. The Fill button triggers a drum fill that provides in many scenes a "breakdown" to a hi-hat, with some randomized record-scratching at the end, and adds analog toms on top in some of the later scenes.

An addictive hip-hop lead synth is provided in the right hand area for soloing, with a high degree of velocity sensitivity on the filter - A.Sw1 lengthens portamento timeand A.Sw2 brings in filter modulation. The left hand area provides a nice evolving synth pad with ribbon control - try playing an intro with KARMA off and the LH/RH sounds.

Motif Arps/Special Notes
  • Two Motif arps can be added as additional elements: Pads 9 to 12 trigger an additional bell riff, while Pads 13 to 16 trigger a simple gated choir pattern - both of which have ascending scale steps based on the last-played chord and can be layered on top of each other.
  • The Drum Fill has been set to stop the two Drum Modules and the Bass on the Performance > Trigger page. In Scenes 1 to 5, it provides a breakdown from when it is pushed to a simple hi-hat, adding some randomized scratching at the end. In the later scenes, random tom hits are introduced.

Scenes (Master) Description
Scene 1 (simplest) - an extremely low-level of activity in all modules, bass up an octave, echoing vibes, sparse pizz notes, suitable for a breakdown
Scene 2 (simpler) - up a bit in activity from Scene 1, with the focus on the pizzicato with panning and a long bending bass note; fill ends with belltree
Scene 3 (simpler) - up a bit more in activity on the bass and drums, different pizzicato variation, drums bring in the rides
Scene 4 (simpler) - down in activity a bit from the startup scene, with the drums moving to the sidestick and ride, bending on the pad
Scene 5 (startup) - the basic full groove
Scene 6 (busier) - different snare on the drums along with more activity in the groove; pad now alternates in 4/4 instead of 8/4; fill adds toms
Scene 7 (busier) - drums move to the snare and ride, pizzicato starts playing bouncing clusters, the vibes become apparent, everything picks up; panning bending toms fill
Scene 8 (busiest) - drums 1 has a resonant buzzing delay, while drums 2 uses arpeggiated pitch-bending, pad/vibes becomes a nice wash, 16th note pizz pattern makes this a variation that nicely moces along, syncopated toms fill with fast delays
