Remember the Future 92 BPM - 4/4 Pop/Rock Guitar/Plucked
hand diagram
This mid-tempo atmospheric, ambient Pop/Rock style Performance presents a very "chilled" attitude, driven by a highly rhythmic realistic sounding acoustic drum-kit groove with some slight built-in randomization, and a realistic sounding vintage electric bass pattern with fret squeaks, muted effects and some subtle KARMA randomization. Layered on top are a mellow, ambient analog synth-pad background wash with random rhythm and notes (Syn-Pad), a rhythmic muted analog saw synth pattern with velocity-controlled wavesample switching effects (Syn-Pluck) and a simple, atmospheric Floyd-esque electric guitar pattern with plenty of echo. The Fill button triggers a realistic snare and toms fill with many variations in the scenes.

A bright synth stack/pad is provided in the LH/KARMA area, while a heavily-effected distorted lead guitar (mono) is provided in the RH area for soloing, which can be changed to a mellow analog synth lead (also mono) with A.Sw2. You'll find that the guitar lead has been stored in Scenes 5 to 8, while the synth lead has been stored in the simpler Scenes 1 to 4. Both lead sounds can be dropped an octave by A.Sw1 (which is not stored in the scenes and can be toggled at any time). Listen out for Scene 8 which contains some KARMA drum and bass improvisation!
Left Hand: Synth stack pad
Right Hand: Distorted lead guitar (mono) (A.Sw2 = off)
Mellow synth lead (mono) (A.Sw2 = on)

Motif Arps/Special Notes
  • Pads 9 to 12 provide an additional Motif arp gated synth pattern in ascending scale steps based on the last played chord which compliments the mix, while Pads 13 to 16 provide atmospheric up and down resonant filter sweeps.
  • Assignable Switch 2 changes the RH sound from a distorted lead guitar to a mellow analog synth lead. This is accomplished by having two different parts/tracks set up for the RH area in the Motif Song, on different MIDI Channels, and configuring KARMA's Dynamic MIDI Page and Perf RTP Page to change the MIDI Channel by A.Sw2. Also, since the "Assignable Switch In Scenes" checkbox is on under A.Switch 2 in the Real-Time Controls Editor, this setting is stored in the scenes.
  • When not in Remote Mode (i.e. in Song Mode), Tone 1 Knob 8 increases the delay effect on most sounds in the mix, and adds an interesting beat-synchronized delay effect to the Drums and Fill.

Scenes (Master) Description
Scene 1 (simplest) - very minimal activity, with a simple echoing shaker, clave and tamb, single repetitive syn-pluck note, sparse guitar notes, downbeat bass, focus on the syn-pad; very sparse random fill
Scene 2 (simpler) - brings in the kick, focus shifts to the syn-pluck with a nice velocity-driven pattern, guitar phrase starts slowly, bendy atmospheric syn-pad effects, another sparse random fill
Scene 3 (simpler) - adds the hi-hats and a conga pattern, the kick doubles up with the bass, guitar takes center stage with a floydesque climbing riff backed by a more muted syn-pluck pattern; more syncopated randomized fill
Scene 4 (simpler) - kick, sidestick and ride, most parts are simplified variations of the startup scene for a nice alternate variation with less energy; high-pitched snare, kick and hi-hat fill
Scene 5 (startup) - the basic full groove, lots of space in the guitar phrase; straight open snare and toms fill
Scene 6 (busier) - everything picks up a bit, more percussion, funkier bass, more tasty scalic notes in the guitar phrase, syn-pluck jumps up an octave; fat snare, kick and hi-hat fill
Scene 7 (busier) - a completely different mood, with an analog snare, simple echoing notes on the guitar, bending atmospherics from the syn-pad, and a triplet drum fill (careful, trigger it on the beat!)
Scene 8 (busiest/improv) - the bass, drums and perc provide a fairly randomized improvisational feel, trippy bending from the syn-pad, randomized notes from the guitar; toms fill with fast delays for something completely different
