Tekno-Logik 137 BPM - 4/4 Euro-Techno Lead Synth
hand diagram
This up-tempo Euro-style Techno/Dance Performance with analog synths and drums consists of a typical "4 on the floor" Techno drum groove with open hi-hat and claps, a slightly busy syncopated synth-bass pattern, a raspy analog synth pattern that acts as the main focal point of this Performance using a bright, detuned, trumpet-like synth sound (Synth 1) , a simple comping synth pattern using a more mellow and atmospheric "trancey" type analog synth timbre (Synth 2), and a gated, panning string-synth pattern which alternates with Synth 2. The Fill button triggers Module 6 with a variety of drum fills from the standard machine gun crescendo fills to electronic toms with pitch-bending.

The LH/KARMA area provides a bright saw pad with some resonance and decay, while the RH provides two different mono synth leads for your soloing pleasure, controlled by A.Sw2: a fat octaves moog lead with release, and a clean octaves triangle pro-synth lead. A.Sw1 activates filter and envelope modulations for the Bass, Synth 1 and the Gated Synth to provide an alternate tonal variation. In this Performance, the A.Switches are not set to be stored in the scenes, so they can be freely toggled on and off at any time without scene changes affecting them.
Left Hand: Bright saw synth pad w/decay
Right Hand: Fat octaves moog lead with release
(A.Sw2 = off)
Clean octave pro-synth lead
(A.Sw1 = on)

Motif Arps/Special Notes
  • Two Motif arps can be added as additional elements: Pads 9 to 12 trigger a trancey riff and Pads 13 to 16 trigger a portamento dance riff - both of which have ascending scale steps based on the last-played chord and shut each other off, courtesy of the Chord Trigger exclusives - try alternating between them, for example, Pad 9 and Pad 13.
  • Turn off Master Layer Switch 6 "Step Transpose Pattern" to remove the +2 transposition in the fourth bar of the pattern.
  • Use the Ribbon to add a beat-synchronized delay effect to the drums while brightening the bass (in the right direction), and to modulate resonance and filter cutoff on Synth 1 (in the left direction).

Scenes (Master) Description
Scene 1 (simplest) - shakers, simple bass with space, gated synth pans L/R jumping octaves, synth 1 and synth 2 play a few single notes that interact with each other; bending panning quarter note toms fill with delays ending in vibraslap
Scene 2 (simpler) - tambourine, focus moves to synth 2 with a cool ascending riff built by melodic repeats, bass adds notes, sparse notes and chords on synth 1 and gated synth; panning triplet toms fill ending in kick
Scene 3 (simpler) - hi-hats take over, bass plays a 3 note phrase, focus moves to an ascending melodic repeats riff from synth 1, while synth 2 and the gated synth alternate single notes and L/R stabs; panning bending 8th-note toms fill
Scene 4 (simpler) - simplified variation of the startup scene, with kick, clave and hi-hats, synth 2 up an octave alternating with a single stab on gated synth, simplified synth 1 riff; panning pitch-bending snare fill
Scene 5 (startup) - the basic full groove; machine gun snare fill
Scene 6 (busier) - percussion and repeats added to the drums to busy up the groove, bass line becomes more driving, synth 2 and gated synth up an octave, synth 1 plays a variation of the main riff; pitch-bending upwards panning snare fill
Scene 7 (busiest) - drums move to ride and sidestick, add congas, bass line plays a variation of startup scene, synth 1 with octave repeats, gated synth adss bending; pitch-bending upwards snare buzz roll fill
Scene 8 (breakdown) - half-time variation courtesy of the Rhythm Multipliers in the Master Layer, with a long bending bass note, synth 2 filling up the space with warm chords, a simple riff on synth 1, bending stabs on the gated synth; machine gun combination snare and toms fill
