Tron-Hop 88 BPM - 4/4 Hip-Hop Lead Synth

This mid-tempo Hip-Hop Performance features simulations of two classic Mellotron voices (Violins and Flute) - hence the name. It consists of a typical solid Hip-Hop drum groove with lots of added swing, a kick-accentuating muted electric bass guitar pattern, a Mellotron style violins chord-stab pattern (panned left), and a Mellotron style "Strawberry Fields" flute pattern (panned right). Module 5 interjects a swinging harpsichord riff making it a sort of a "Strawberry Fields meets Eminem" musical experience! (The harpsichord pattern has a "Phrase Mute" setting which mutes several bars of the pattern - turn Master Layer Switch 6 off for a continuous harpsichord phrase, as demonstrated by Scene 3). The Fill button provides a suitably matched Hip-Hop drum fill with a wide range of variations in the scenes.

The LH/KARMA area provides a vintage electric piano with a panning tremolo effect (use the sustain pedal to latch), while the RH provides two completely different soloing experiences, controlled by A.Sw2: a retro "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" synth (played polyphonically), and a retro monophonic analog lead synth, both of which help to complete the 60's vibe.

Motif Arps/Special Notes
  • Two Motif arps can be added as additional elements: Pads 9 to 12 trigger a spiccato strings pattern and Pads 13 to 16 trigger a bouncy, resonant synth pattern - both of which have three different octaves and a fifth scale steps based on the last-played chord and shut each other off, courtesy of the Chord Trigger exclusives - try alternating between them, for example, Pad 9 and Pad 13.
  • Turning off Master Layer Switches 3,4 & 5 provides a more musically "neutral" Performance by adjusting the time signatures of the bass, strings & flute, thereby removing the built-in chord changes. However, since all of the scenes we've provided use the built-in chord changes, we've only programmed the first four Chord Triggers and put record scratches on the second four.

Scenes (Master) Description
Scene 1 (simpler) - simple shaker and congas, sparse bass notes, single notes on the tape flute, busy chords on the tape strings, single notes on the harpsi; pitch-bending toms fill with triplet-delays
Scene 2 (simpler) - percussion variation, slightly busier bass, tape flute goes to a busy choral part while tape strings goes to single notes, 3-note figures on harpsi; swinging snare and toms fill ending in ride bell
Scene 3 (simpler) - simple kick and ride introduced with conga percussion; bass picks up a little, harpsi takes center stage by eliminating the spaces and performing a constant repetitive line, simple single notes on the two mellotron parts; snare and toms fill
Scene 4 (simpler) - add claps on the back beat, congas and triangle, bass variation, single note lines instead of chords on the two mellotron parts, shorter durations and doubling on the harpsi part from startup scene; snare and toms fill with panning
Scene 5 (startup) - the basic groove, with the hip-hop bass and drum groove, two mellotron parts left and right, and harpsi; solid snare and toms fill
Scene 6 (busier) - drums and bass get funkier, add tambourine, while the left and right mellotron parts do busier stabs, the harpsi goes to a more open variation with doubling; syncopated snare and toms fill
