Euro-Stomper 138 BPM - 4/4 Techno/Trance Lead Synth
hand diagram
This up-tempo Euro-style Techno/Trance Performance features four different analog synths, consisting of a typical "4 on the floor" Techno drum groove with open hi-hat and snare, a simple pulsing offbeat techno style synth-bass, a techno synth stab pattern with a vocoderish sound (Synth 1), a staccato techno synth riff (Synth 2), and an wood-block-like analog synth arpeggio with randomized notes which appears every 3rd bar (Synth 3). The Fill button triggers a drum fill with idiomatic crescendoing machine gun snare and toms variations - try holding the Fill button down to increase the length of the fills and really bring up the excitement.

The LH/KARMA area provides an unobtrusive analog string pad, while the RH provides two completely different voices for soloing and comping, controlled by A.Sw2: a mono rave lead with portamento and heavy phaser, and a polyphonic sweeping resonant bandpass synth pad. A.Sw1 activates filter, envelope and effect modulations for the Bass, Synth 1 and Synth 2 to provide an alternate tonal variation. In this Performance, the A.Switches are not set to be stored in the scenes, so they can be freely toggled on and off at any time without scene changes affecting them - so you'll find the phaser rave lead in all scenes.
Left Hand: Analog string pad
Right Hand: Phaser rave lead (mono) (A.Sw2 = off)
Bandpass sweep pad (poly) (A.Sw2 = on)
Split Points: * B2/C3
Motif Arps/Special Notes
  • Two Motif arps can be added as additional elements: Pads 9 to 12 trigger a simple gated trance synth chord, while Pads 13 to 16 trigger an analog sync wave riff with portamento - both of which have ascending scale steps based on the last-played chord and can be layered on top of each other.
  • If you'd like the scene changes to change the lead sound, turn on the "Assignable Switches In Scenes" checkbox under A.Sw2 in the Real-Time Controls page.

Scenes (Master) Description
Scene 1 (simplest) - simple shakers, single bass notes with bend, synth 1 takes center stage with a climbing pattern, synth 2 plays single low notes, while synth 3 percolates every few bars; panning sporadic toms fill with tight buzzy delays ending in a vibraslap
Scene 2 (simpler) - tambourine with delay added, open syncopated bass octaves, synth 3 takes center stage with a cascading downwards riff, while synth 1 moves to a backbeat stab and synth 3 plays sporadic single notes; panning pitch-bending toms fill fades in and out
Scene 3 (simpler) - kick is added every two beats with open hi-hat backbeat, bass gets busier, synth 1 plays transposing stabs, synth 2 starts to play a riff, while synth 3 percolates every few bars again; panning 8th-note steady toms fill
Scene 4 (simpler) - four-on-the-floor kick with cowbell and ride, bass busies up previous pattern with doubled notes, synth 1 on backbeat stabs, synth 2 plays a very syncopated variation, synth 3 percolates every few bars in an upwards direction; busy crescendoing machine gun snare fill
Scene 5 (startup) - the basic full groove; crescendoing machine gun snare fill
